Usually, I love my job – the tasks I perform, the people I work with, and the customers I serve. But, I had had an excruciating week. By the time Friday night rolled around, I was in desperate need of a break and ready to get out of town. So, I convinced the girls to join me in a little road trip for a weekend of R&R on the beach.
The girls and I made the short jaunt over to Clearwater beach and arrived just after 9pm. We checked into a cheap hotel and immediately ventured down the beach. A late night wander through the crashing waves was a great way to unwind. We chatted, laughed, griped and gossiped.
After our sandy stroll, we hit the hotel bar. A few margaritas wiped away the last remaining bits of the stressful week that was now behind me. My friends somehow managed to drag me onto the dance floor. For hours, we laughed and strutted our stuff, completely indifferent to the opinions of the room full of strangers. Fearful we would spend our entire beach day in bed, we decided to call it a night (relatively) early!
As I tumbled into bed that night, I breathed a sigh of relief. The salty sea air had done its job; I was relaxed, happy and refreshed. I shimmied down under the comfy blankets and realized the bliss was just beginning. I still had an entire day of beach fun ahead of me!
